We know that Christian Bale is no stranger to fast vehicles, after all he was the man behind the Batmobile – and now he looks set to find the need for speed once more after being linked to a biopic about legendary car designer Enzo Ferrari.
According to Deadline the actor looks set to sign on the dotted line for the untitled film, which is being directed by Michael Mann after almost 15 years on his backburner.
The movie will be set in the 1950s, when Enzo too was in his 50s, and will tell the story of the rise of the Ferrari as a luxury vehicle.
It’s not the first time that Bale and Mann have joined forces in a movie, having already worked together on on 2009’s PUBLIC ENEMIES, where Bale played FBI agent Melvin Purvis on the trail of Johnny Depp‘s notorious bank robber John Dillinger.
The race is now on between Bale and Robert De Niro, who also revealed earlier this year that he too was working on a film about Enzo Ferrari.
Mann last directed Legendary’s BLACKHAT, starring Chris Hemsworth.
