It seems that Chris Hemsworth is set to be a busy man over the coming months after being cast in a remake of the classic 1980s comedy series starring Chevy Chase.   New Line are now in talks with Hemsworth (THOR, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON) and Charlie Day (PACIFIC RIM) for roles in the project.

The reboot follows up on a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms), the young son of Clark Grisworld (Chase) from the original film, as he brings his own family along for a vacation in the same vein of the one he took as a child.  Christina Applegate (ANCHORMAN) is attached to play his wife.

Rumour has it that Hemsworth is looking to stretch his CV and adding another genre to his already expanding resume by taking on the comedic role of Stone Crandall, an up-and-coming anchorman and the husband of Rusty’s sister, Audrey (who has not yet been cast).

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein wrote the script and will also make their directorial debut with both Chase and Beverly D’Angelo set to cameo in the VACATION reboot, giving it a tie to the original.

The Aussie actor Hemsworth, seems to be working non-stop at the moment with many interesting projects ahead of him outside of his Marvel commitments with the films BLACKHAT and IN THE HEART OF THE SEA impending.
