It is with a heavy heart that we report character actor Edward Herrmann has passed away at the age of 71.
The actor best known for his roles in THE LOST BOYS, THE AVIATOR and his long stint as the beloved Grandfather, Richard, in cult-classic series GILMORE GIRLS, starring alongside Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham, died December 31st after a long battle with brain cancer.Â
Lauren Graham, his on screen daughter, tweeted her sorrow at the news of his death:
Herrmann began his career in the 1970’s with success in the likes of BEACON HILLÂ and THE BETSYÂ and continued to work steadily in both film, television and theatres with fans enjoying him in more recent series’ like THE GOOD WIFE.Â
There’s no official word from Herrmann’s representatives, but we wish them all the best at this difficult time. Herrmann was married twice and leaves behind three children.Â
