Alright, I can already feel you lot giving me disapproving looks. Yes, I am about to question one of the most anticipated movies coming up soon… just hear me out, ok?

It feels like everyday there’s fresh news about what’s happening in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, who’s going to star? What character will they play? What’s their background? So yeah, I am as excited as the next movie fanatic about the clash of the superheroes but… is it too much too soon?

Seriously thought, would it kill them to do a couple of establishing movies? I had beef to begin with, bringing a brand new, Afflek shaped Batman into Superman’s story without having a movie to establish Afflek as our new caped crusader. Especially considering how torn audiences were about the Pearl Harbor star bagging the part in the first place – I’m ok with it now, I’m team Afflek all the way after Argo and Gone Girl!

Batman vs Superman

From an industry point of view, I can understand that the movie is going to make serious bank with Batman and Superman fans flocking to the cinema to see them together. So I do get that they don’t want to waste so much time getting Affleck comfortable in the position. However, with more and more characters being introduced, is it going to be too much for an audience to handle?

I hate to say it but, I think so. Okay, so far we’ve got these confirmed and rumoured characters; Batman, Superman, a new Lex Luther  (I still can’t see it, sorry Eisenberg), Wonder Woman, Robin, fans seem to think The Flash will make a cameo, Aquaman and Cyborg.

Every time I see a new actor and character thrown into the mix, I initially get super excited. Word on the street says Jenna Malone is going to be a female Robin and I think she’d be amazing as Batman’s BFF but that means Snyder’s got to establish the new Batman, his relationship with Robin, establish Robin to begin with and ya know, make the rest of the movie. I just feel like it’s going to be rushed and I’m scared I wont care about each character enough.

Same thing with Wonder Woman, I really hope these brilliant female characters won’t be pushed to the side and forgotten about, making Batman vs Superman a movie about male superhero egos.

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely want to see come cool cameo’s and maybe a couple of character introductions BUT for me, I’ve got to have some establishing movies to get me in the mood!

Still…It’s not going to stop me from hyperventilating every time a new piece of the Dawn of Justice puzzle is released and of course, I’ll be elbowing people out of the way to get to the movie theater. I just want to make sure we get the most out of the movie, without sacrificing character development. Still…in Snyder, we trust.
