Hobbit fans, it is time to say goodbye as we celebrate Peter Jackson’s Middle Earth legacy

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is released in UK cinemas nationwide today and to celebrate the release, two new featurettes are now available.

It is that time of year again when we look forward to another installment from THE HOBBIT trilogy – and unfortunately, this is the last one.  THE HOBBIT’s final outing certainly does not disappoint and it provides excitement, action, sadness and an epic 45-minute battle scene that leaves you astounded at the visionary genius of director Peter Jackson. (You can read our full review here).

The epic finale marks not only the end of ‘The Hobbit’ Trilogy, but the culmination of the cinematic legacy of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth.

The film picks up exactly where the last one left off with Smaug The Stupendous (Benedict Cumberbatch) heading towards Lake-town on a mission to burn it to ashes, with Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) hoping to be the man to stop the beast.

Meanwhile, Bilbo (Martin Freeman) is inside Erebor with Thorin (Richard Armitage) and his company of dwarves, but the King Under the Mountain is suffering with dragon sickness and has become a changed individual – and not for the better.

With many wanting their share of the treasures in the mountain, all eyes turn towards the lonely mountain as elves, dwarves, humans and orcs all descend upon the mountain.

The first featurette clip entitled ‘Adventure Recap’ recounts the events of An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug to bring fans up to date for the release of The Battle of the Five Armies:

‘The 17-Year Journey’ featurette looks back at the superb era of Jackson’s Middle-earth films:
