Anna Kendrick The Accountant

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick: A well known name that transcends continents and belongs to a talented, multi-faceted actress, who is taking over the big screen in a big way…

She can be seen this week in the upcoming movie, THE ACCOUNTANT alongside Ben Affleck (which arrives in UK cinemas November 4th) and once again, she has shown her versatility when it comes to choosing the right character and exploring different movie genres.

In the dramatic thriller, Kendrick stars alongside Affleck, who plays Christian Wolff,a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

There is no denying that Kendrick is a talent and a bit of an acting chameleon – aside from the intense thrills of THE ACCOUNTANT, she is also very good at showing off her bad girl skills in all her glory, as she can be seen drinking and smoking and swearing up a storm as Alice in MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES. It couldn’t be more different than her current movie, as she drops the regular F-bomb and embraces her character’s permanent sloshed-ness; she looks completely at home with this genre.

Kendrick has taken her time to develop her craft and is certainly very experienced after starting her career as a very young child in musical theatre. She performed the show Cabaret onstage at Carnegie Hall at the tender age of 13, and her first real onscreen gig was starring in the bizarre cult classic (and musical) CAMP in 2003. It is fair to say, she doesn’t shy away from belting out a number and is happy to show off her musical theatre roots to the world – remember how she sang her way through an entire love story on The Late Late Show With James Corden? (If you missed it, take a look here). We can practically hear the Broadway stage calling – 0r hopefully the West End in London!

Despite having a rather impressive theatre CV, Kendrick first soared into stardom when she was cast alongside George Clooney back in 2009 in the movie, UP IN THE AIR. So impressive was her performance, she landed an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and became more well known to international audiences too.

Thanks to the nomination, Kendrick embraced all of the responsibilities that came with such recognition: awards shows, interviews, modelling photos and of course, in came the opportunities for more big blockbusters: TWILIGHT, WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING, 50/50 with Seth Rogen and the utterly brilliant and highly emotional END OF WATCH alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
However, the one film that really springs to mind when you think of Anna Kendrick is PITCH PERFECT, the all-female musical that really launched her into the film stratosphere alongside Rebel Wilson. Such box office power like this, saw a recent sequel to the movie and the Bellas are preparing themselves once again for PITCH PERFECT 3 – and we couldn’t be more chuffed about it!

PITCH PERFECT really helped to cement the actress as a box office super power and she fast became one of the favourite Bellas.

Despite currently being seen on the big screen for THE ACCOUNTANT she can also be heard at cinemas too, as her voice also features in Dreamworks’ huge animation hit, TROLLS alongside Justin Timberlake. The movie is lighting up the big screen in all its colourful glory and the voice cast have been hard at work enjoying promotions of the animation film.

2017 will see even more of the star, as she her new movie TABLE 19 also scheduled for release in the new year. Kendrick plays an ex-maid of honor Eloise – having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text- decides to attend the wedding anyway only to find herself seated with 5 “random” guests at the dreaded Table 19.

It is clear that 2016 has been another wonderful year for the actress and bigger things are still yet to come. With PITCH PERFECT 3 in the pipework and TABLE 19 on the way it seems that Hollywood’s star is still not willing to kick back and relax, as she is happily embracing every opportunity thrown at her – and who can blame her?! We salute you, Anna Kendrick – keep doing what you are doing!

Watch Anna Kendrick in THE ACCOUNTANT in cinemas from November 4th, 2016.
