It was only on Tuesday that we found out that Benedict Cumberbatch was the first person to sign up and lend his vocals for Jungle Book and 24 hours later, more names are added to the list.

Andy Serkis Jungle Book

It seems that Andy Serkis’ jungle is become more populated.  After confirmation yesterday that Cumberbatch would be voicing the villain Shere Khan in the movie, more names have quickly been added to the list.

Rudyard Kipling’s JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS has even more illustrious numbers to fill up their jungle with rumours of Christian Bale, Naomie Harris, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Rohan Chand all supposedly set to sign on the dotted line and complete the collective.

The Hollywood Reporter believes that not only will Serkis enjoy making the film in his first directorial debut, but he will also be acting in the film, playing popular character Baloo the bear.

Aside from Cumberbatch and Serkis, other names believed to complete the casting is Christian Bale who will take on the role of the panther Bagheera, Cate Blanchett will hope to hypnotise the audience and Mowgli as the dangerous snake Kaa and Tom Hollander will join forces with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Shere Khan as Tabaqui.

Serkis will be bringing alive Callie Kloves script for Warner Bros using a mixture of live-action, performance capture and CG animation.

Of course Serkis will be hoping his version of THE JUNGLE BOOK, which is set for a October 21st, 2016 release will trump Disney’s version released on October 6th, 2015.

Which do you think will prove to be the most popular?
