The first trailer has emerged for Big Eyes, Tim Burton’s latest film starring Amy Adams as painter Margaret Keane.

Big Eyes

The Weinstein Company’s first trailer has landed for BIG EYES, the biographical drama tells the story of painter, Margaret Keane played by Amy Adams, whose work is known for the oversized eyes she gives to her paintings.

The film will focus on Walter Keane, a man known in the 1950s and ’60s for fraudulently claiming to paint kitsch paintings of large-eyed waifs, and his then-wife Margaret Keane, the actual artist, portraying their heated divorce battle where Margaret accused Walter of stealing her paintings. When she meets and marries Walter (Christoph Waltz), he suggests trying to sell the paintings under his name, reasoning that nobody is interested in buying “lady-art”.

Sure enough, the paintings are wildly popular, and the money begins to roll in, but Margaret finds that the lie becomes increasingly hard to live with, particularly as it begins to consume her marriage.

Adams and Waltz are also joined by Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwarztman, Terence Stamp, Danny Huston, and James Saito.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are reuniting with Burton, penning the screenplay, with Bob and Harvey Weinstein both executive producers on the project.

BIG EYES will open in the US on December 25th this year and in the UK on 26th December 2014.
