Universal Pictures has released the official trailer and key artwork for LICORICE PIZZA, from the Oscar-nominated writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson.

Take a look at the footage in the video player below:

This is the first movie from Anderson since 2017’s PHANTOM THREAD.

The movie is set in 1973 in the regular stomping ground of San Fernando, the same place where the director filmed BOOGIE NIGHTS, PUNCH DRUNK LOVE and MAGNOLIA.  It was filmed in August 2020 and filming wrapped in November.

LICORICE stars Alana Haim and if her face seems familiar, you may recognise her from the  band Haim. She stars alongside the late-great Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son Cooper Hoffman. Haim plays Alana Kane and Cooper stars as Gary Valentine. It’s a coming-of-age movie which tells the story of the duo falling in love in the Los Angeles suburb.

Starring alongside them is Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper and Benny Safdie in which Cooper plays a Hollywood director.

Anderson was on double duty for this one, as not only was he calling the shots, he also wrote the script and produced the film with Sara Murphy.

He has also produced the film alongside Murphy, Joanne Sellar and Daniel Lupi.
