The King of Rock and Roll is dead! Long live Agent King!

On the 42nd anniversary of his death, Netflix announced Agent King, a new adult animated comedy series reimagining Elvis Presley as a spy.

Agent King was co-created by the late star’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley and John Eddie, who will serve as executive producers. Archer’s Mike Arnold is attached as writer and showrunner.

The series sees Elvis trading in his famous white jumpsuit for a jet pack to battle dark forces. After being inducted into a secret government spy program, Elvis has to be both superhero and superstar.

Elvis is one of the biggest selling solo artists in the history of recorded music. His energetic songs, provocative performance style, and a myriad of influences made him both popular and controversial. The chart-topping sensation’s impressive CV also included time in the military, a film career, and network television appearances.

The less than mundane real-life of Elvis will be the focus of Baz Luhrman’s upcoming untitled biopic. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’s Austin Butler was confirmed as Elvis, alongside Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker.

But Agent King won’t be the first fantastical take on Elvis’ life. The 1988 comedy Heartbreak Hotel was about a teen kidnapping him. And 2002’s Bubba Ho-Tep featured an elderly King of Rock and Roll facing off against an ancient Egyptian mummy.
