With only a few weeks to go until the release of FOXCATCHER, a brand new poster has been revealed.
Based on true events and containing a stellar cast, FOXCATCHER tells the dark and fascinating story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multimillionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell) and two champion wrestlers Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum – MAGIC MIKE) and his brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo – THE AVENGERS).Â
Bennett Miller won the Best Director prize at Cannes for this rich and moving story of brotherly love, misguided loyalty and the corruption and emotional bankruptcy that can accompany great power and wealth.
The acclaimed new drama is based on the real-life story of the brothers tells the story of the Olympic gold-medallist wrestlers who become the obsession of troubled John du Pont (Carell).
The film directed by Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball), doesn’t just tell the tale of great wrestlers, it examines one of the most horrifying tragedies in the history of the sport, with drastic consequences for  Dave Schultz on the Foxcatcher property.
Earlier this year, FOXCATCHER debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received overwhelmingly positive early reviews and the film’s director took home the Best Director award and it also had its very successful UK gala screening at the London Film Festival in September.
To add to its already impressive collection, the film has also been nominated for awards at the Golden Globes. The movie is up for a Best Motion Picture (Drama) award, Steve Carell’s performance has been recognised in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) category and his co-star, Mark Ruffalo will be hoping to collect some hardware in the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category.
The film, which also stars Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller, has an awards season buzz around it, as Carell, who is known for his comedic performances, has swapped genres to take on this dramatic role.
FOXCATCHER WILL be released in the UK on January 9th, 2015.
