Any film that has the uber-cool Tilda Swinton and totally charismatic Ralph Fiennes in is sure to be a winner… Now we can see the duo in StudioCanal’s first trailer for A BIGGER SPLASH. Take a look at the video above.
It’s not the first time that Swinton has worked with A BIGGER SPLASH director Luca Guadagnino, as they also joined forces in 2010’s I AM LOVE.
This time around Swinton is a rock star on holiday in the Mediterranean with her sexy filmmaker boyfriend (played by Matthias Schoenaerts), and their holiday is about to get disrupted by her old flame (Fiennes) and his young, hot daughter (Dakota Johnson). Naturally, the sexual tension between them is palpable, but what starts as a good old-fashioned weekend of indiscretions among the wealthy turns into something that looks like a murderous thriller, with caution tape being strung up and Swinton’s character screaming in desperation.Â
A BIGGER SPLASH is a remake of the French film LAS PISCINE from 1969, and the new adaptation promises to be an impeccably stylish tale of love, beauty, desire, sexuality; people who in trying to retreat from their world, only find it encroaching further upon them.
The film has already received strong reviews where it opened at the Venice Film Festival, so it is definitely one to look out for.Â
