The question of who will be the next 007 has been hot on the heels of many, but its seems that Idris Elbra has grown tired of all the speculation pointed towards him as the potential next Bond agent.

Idris Elba, known primarily for his gritty role in Luther did show some interest for the role in the past, but its now clear that Elba has become bored and frustrated with all the links to his name as a possible candidate.

Elba has been quoted as saying “It feels like I’m campaigning and I’m not. At first it was harmless – oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? – and now it’s started off racial debates,”

“I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”

Responses in regards to the idea of Elba playing Bond have differed, often causing some racial controversy and debate, but a high percentage of people do seem to be convinced he’d be a perfect change-up to the role and would welcome Idris to the role.

Elba will return to our screens in a christmas special when Luther returns for a limited fourth series on 15 December on BBC One, while latest Bond film Spectre is in cinemas now.
