Early on Thursday morning, the 24th Bond movie title and cast were revealed during a live-stream press conference from Pinewood Studios (if you missed it, you can watch it again on the video at the bottom of the article).  The new film will be titled SPECTRE after the evil global terrorist organisation first introduced by Ian Fleming in the 1961 novel Thunderball.

At Pinewood Studios, the Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, confirmed the film will be directed by Sam Mendes and of course Daniel Craig will reprise his role for his fourth film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007.

SPECTRE, an acronym for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, begins principal photography on Monday, December 8th and is set for global release on November 6th, 2015.

Along with Daniel Craig, Mendes presented the returning cast, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear, as well as confirming the new additions to the film, which will feature Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott, among the supporting cast.

The movie sees Bond receive a cryptic message, which sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

The new film will begin shooting next week and production will be based at Pinewood Studios in London. Further locations have been revealed in Rome, Mexico City, the Alps and Morocco.

Of course a Bond movie would not be the same without the ultimate car, so Daniel Craig will be driving a new Aston Martin DB10 exclusively for the movie – we’re not jealous in the slightest!

One notable omission from the cast list was Stephen Hawking, who admitted he would love to play a Bond baddie, but unfortunately, he will have to wait a little longer.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “We’re excited to announce Daniel’s fourth installment in the series and thrilled that Sam has taken on the challenge of following on the success of SKYFALL with SPECTRE.”

Sam Mendes’s second turn as director, following the $1bn box office success of 2012’s Skyfall, is now due in cinemas on November 6th next year.
