Ever since the soundtrack for SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER helped elevate the 1977 disco classic to blockbuster and subsequent legendary status, the soundtrack tie-in has always proved a valuable asset in a film’s promotion.
A new indie drama, THE IN-BETWEEN, which screens at this year’s Paris International Film Festival (see separate article in the ‘Movie News’ section), has been blazing huge success on the festival trail and a soundtrack is going to be released in celebration of this.

In a press release, the film-makers had this to say:
“The music of The In-Between is a major part of the soul of the film,” said director Mindy Bledsoe who also stars as Junior, one of the film’s two lead actors. “We were lucky to have the total creative support of the musicians to shape the world that our characters inhabit.”
The soundtrack is primarily made up of tracks from two bands, Super Water Sympathy and Hydrogen Child, both fronted by lead singer Ansley Rimmer. Super Water Sympathy formed in 2011 in Shreveport, Louisiana and was a featured performance in the 2013 Vans Warped Tour and saw heavy rotation on the MTV series Caged (2012). The band changed its name to Hydrogen Child after their sophomore album of the same name from which many of the film’s music are sourced.
The band even makes a special appearance at the end of The In-Between in the form of a flashback music video. “The music of Super Water and Hydrogen Child became a third character in the movie after our two leads, Mads and Junior. Without these amazing tracks, the pair’s road trip would be incomplete,” said Jennifer Stone (Wizards of Waverly Place) who plays Mads opposite co-star and director Mindy Bledsoe.
The film’s soundtrack, which features 12 tracks, includes belt-worthy songs “Anthem” and “Sirens” along with reflective pieces “Magnolia Parade” and “Abzu”. The album also includes dialogue from the movie which allows listeners to take the road trip all over again, featuring some of the film’s most poignant lines.
