Paris is renowned – and reputed – for being not only the ‘City of Light’, but also the ‘City of Love’. It is fitting that in addition to being a catalyst for change, the Paris International Film Festival, which takes place 4th – 14th February 2021, should conclude on the day that is synonymous with that blessed feeling of “l’amour”.

Festival Director Jenna Suru announced today a ‘Valentine’s Special’ screening of another of the new films taking a bow, Nora Lakos’ CREAM – and in the grand tradition of classic film romance, this is a movie that reflects the desires and hopes of a lady who is smitten with those ideas.

Our protagonist in CREAM, Dora, has not had the best of times in romance, having just lost the love of her life to another woman in marriage. In solace and in an attempt to claim back her heart, she focuses on paying homage to classic heart-broken love couples from cinematic history through the pastries she makes in her pastry shop, but as is the case in a classic traditional tale, it wouldn’t be love if you didn’t lose a lot more…..

The film is described by the director as ‘a film about trust and ‘trust in yourself’, but it also reveals that the film is also about the reality of love over that which we all experience in countless cinematic tales of love.

Reflecting on the selection of the film, director Nora Lakos had this to say in a testimonial:

“Paris and CREAM are the perfect matches. Both are about food, love and misery. Not to mention the great French actor Alain Delon, who appears in the film as a blue cupcake that symbolizes hopeless love. In fact, I spent my teenage years watching French movies because my mother was madly in love with Alain Delon. Probably those mother-daughter French film nights influenced my work. Since the Hungarian premiere, I have been receiving feedback that HAB is like a French film. Let’s see what the French audience has to say about this!”

Already a selection in the London Love Film Festival and L.A. Comedy Film Festival, CREAM is certainly going to provide a fitting coda to the climax of the Festival, which is building momentum as we speak.
