Vertigo Films have released four more exclusive clips ahead of the 2021 25th Anniversary release of one of the most prophetic techno-thrillers of recent years, JOHNNY MNEMONIC.
Keanu Reeves plays Johnny, a ‘Mnemonic Courier’, a human USB carrying 80GBs of data for gangsters and on the run with a female bodyguard (Dina Meyer), whilst battling a murderous preacher (Dolph Lundgren) and the Yakuza.
Made in 1995, but set in a then-futuristic 2021, JOHNNY MNEMONIC predicted many of the technological advances like the iPhone and touch-screen technology that we all seem to take for granted in this ever progressive world.
In addition, a certain global situation is also happening in this film, a mystery illness for which there appears to be no cure.
The film was also ahead of its’ time – and four years before Reeves’ even more influential and successful blockbusting MATRIX trilogy.
