Don’t you love awards season? It’s one of Hollywood’s biggest and most glam annual events, and the stars of the small and silver screen hit the red-carpet in style.  It’s that time of the year when Hollywood royalty step out looking head-to-toe glamourous:  The dresses, the hair, the jewels…

There were so many beautiful dresses that turned us green with envy and others set a style statement, preferring a more edgier look for the ceremony…

Here are some of the dresses we couldn’t take our eyes off…

The stars stepped out in fashion at the Golden Globes 2014.

Cate Blanchett looked effortlessly Hollywood royalty, channeling an old school glamour for a beauty look that screams Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly chic. Her vintage-inspired look is combined with a rolled-under hairstyle and lots of bling to complete the look.

Wow. Wow. Wow.  Lupita Nyong’o could not have got her look more perfect than this.  She looks simply stunning in her coral-coloured Ralph Lauren gown.  She set the look off perfectly wearing her hair off her face and used very few accessories, allowing her dress to make the statement.  Simply beautiful.

Kate Mara wore Gilles Mendel’s Pre-Fall 2014 gown beautifully.  The style suited her incredible figure and the colour suited the tone of her skin.  The ruche detail pulls the dress in, in all of the right places and the pulled-up hairstyle completes the look.

Emma Watson’s Golden Globes look received a lot of attention and with seemingly mixed reviews.  The young starlet wore a coral-coloured Christian Dior Couture gown, but the biggest surprise was when she turned around to reveal her black trousers and blue heels.  A very daring and different look.  But, why not? She is young enough and edgy enough to experiment and bring something different to the red-carpet.  The rest of her look was beautifully put together, with her swept away side-parted hair pulled into a low chignon.

The popular colour of the night was red.  Best Actress winner Amy Adams wore a cleavage revealing Valentino Haute Couture dress. With a figure as enviable as her’s, she can definitely pull off the look.  The high neckline of her crimson-coloured gown was perfectly dressed with a pulled-up hairstyle as she plaited her auburn locks into an elegant bun. Other red dresses included Emma Watson and my favourite dress of the evening, worn by Lupita Nyong’o.

Apart from the beautiful red tones worn by Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon looked lovely in a teal, floor length gown, set off beautifully with a a blunt cut hairstyle for a high shine finish. Her make-up look is kept natural, peachy and pink.

Julia Roberts is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown, a black dress with a white, fitted shirt underneath.  This look was different to everybody else on the carpet and is very different to her usual style.  She of course wore the look with her biggest accessory – her beaming smile, combined with a classic hair ‘do, the beehive.

Best Supporting Actress, Jennifer Lawrence looked sensational in Christian Dior dress. Her cute pixie haircut allowed her beautiful earrings to stand out and add even more elegance to the gown.  Does she ever make a red-carpet fashion faux-pas?!

Thank goodness there are still a couple of months of this award season so that we can feast our hungry eyes on even more dresses and glamour!
