After more than five years in development, the TOMB RAIDER reboot has confirmed the director and screenwriter who will be bringing the film to the big screen.

Roar Uthaug, the director behind the Norwegian disaster drama THE WAVE, will direct MGM and Warner Bros.’s feature project that seeks to re-launch a franchise featuring archeologist Lara Croft.

In recent weeks, a lot of discussion has been about the new video game which has recently been released, however, now the attention has turned to the news The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the TOMB RAIDER reboot has found its director and that TRANSFORMERS 5 scribe, Geneva Robertson-Dworet is also on board to pen the script for the latest adaptation. Warner Bros. is set to distribute the film with MGM. They will produce the feature with GK Films.

Paramount Pictures previously made two movies about the daredevil archaeologist on a series of global missions. The films, LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which starred Angelina Jolie and grossed a combined $432 million at the worldwide box office.
