Five Nights At Freddy's

With the slue of comic book, novel adaptations and sequels in the works, it’s fair to say that Hollywood are eager to tap into a new market and look for great new stories to tell. Video games are the next logical step for the silver screen, however the relationship between video games and films has been a bumpy to say the least.

This could all change with the news that Warner Brothers have hired Gil Kenan to direct an adaptation of the cult survival horror game, FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S.

For those who are unfamiliar with the world of FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S, it was originally a PC game created by Scott Cawthon as a point-and-click horror game. You play as an anonymous night security guard at a children’s pizza restaurant, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. As the night continues the animatronic creatures, that during the day entertain kids, start to come to life and start to hunt the player down. As the game progresses you slowly gather more information as to why these animatronics are so hell bent on your demise.

Gil Kenan seems to be the perfect fit for this project, having directed the kid friendly MONSTER HOUSE and this year’s remake of POLTERGEIST. Kenan will write the script with, video game writer, Tyler Burton Smith.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S is a hugely popular videogame horror franchise that has spawned more than five sequels (the fifth having only been released this week) and has been met with critical praise from both audiences and critics alike, who site the games atmosphere, simplistic mechanics and power to create panic and paranoia with the player as the games best feature.

No release date has been announced for the project.
