World War Z

If you loved the film WORLD WAR Z and can’t wait to see what happens next in the sequel, then stop reading now… It seems the next instalment of the movie will wipe the slate clean for a new story of life and undeath in the zombie apocalypse.

Screenwriter Steven Knight recently spoke to Indiewire and revealed the context of the new movie:

“I thought, why not? What fun. It’s not quite like the other. We’re starting with a clean slate. When they’ve signed off, we’re on!”

He is of course referring to Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company, who will once again collaborate on the sequel.

In the first movie, WORLD WAR Z, we saw Max Brooks’ novel brought to life which told the story of efforts of Gerry Lane, played by Pitt, who was a UN worker during a global undead pandemic and needed to find a cure before the human race was completely wiped out.

The film made $500 million at the global box office despite receiving mixed reviews and no doubt Knight will want to repeat, if not improve the same feat. However, the screenwriter kept his pen and paper close to his chest and did not reveal any specific plot information.

The big question is, will Brad Pitt be venturing once more in front of the camera, or will he be at his producing best? Can we have both please?!

Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, the sequel to WORLD WAR Z will begin production in October this year, with a release date expected sometime in 2016.
