With a world famous filmography that boasts some of the most popular, well known movies including classics like ANNIE HALL, MANHATTAN, RADIO DAYS and ANOTHER WOMAN as well as contemporary hits such as VICKY CHRISTINA BARCELONA and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS; Woody Allen is a name that automatically brings in big audiences.
Smart move for Amazon Studios then since they’ve decided to scoop up Allen to create his own television series for them.
It has been reported that Allen will both write and direct the series, currently titled Untitled Woody Allen Project.
The company has already confirmed a full series of half-hour episodes that will be exclusively available for Amazon Prime Instant Video.
While there’s no official news on what the series will be about, Amazon Studios Vice President, Roy Price, has been speaking to Variety and said; “Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From ‘Annie Hall’ to ‘Blue Jasmine,’ Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
Safe to say that Amazon Studio’s are excited for the new series and so are we! We can’t exactly say the same for Allen though; “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.” Were sure he’ll be just fine.
With Amazon Studios’ TRANSPARENT scoring two Golden Globes this week, it seems they’ve got the right eye for smash hits. Here’s to hoping this one won’t be any different!
