Netflix has confirmed the release date of upcoming film BEASTS OF NO NATION, which will be released in October and a chilling new trailer has also been unveiled.

Any work with the name Cary Fukunaga will certainly draw a lot of attention and carry a lot of weight after winning an Emmy for TRUE DETECTIVE and the young movie pioneer is certainly making a name for himself making ambitious, challenging, strictly-for-adults movies, and people are paying for them.

What makes the film even more red-hot is the fact that LUTHER’s Idris Elba is taking the lead on this one and after watching the trailer, he has confirmed once again he can do no wrong. Then again, anything with Elba in will certainly get our attention and make it worth the watch.

Beasts of No Nation

Based on the novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, the film follows a child soldier (played by Abraham Attah) fighting in a civil war in an unidentified African country. Elba plays a warlord who takes the young boy under his wing.

Fukunaga’s BEASTS OF NO NATION will be in competition at the Venice Film Festival and will be screening at the Toronto Film Festival in September. This allows the Africa-set drama to be eligible for Oscar consideration and its awards season chances will certainly be improved now that it has been selected at the film festivals.

With Elba in front of the camera and Fukunaga behind, this film looks to be a roller coaster of a ride…

BEASTS OF NO NATION will debut Friday, October 16th, 2015, globally on Netflix.
