The film is set during World War Two and is based on the best-selling book by Irene Nemirovsky during the German occupation of France in the 1940’s. Suite Française tells the story of Lucille Angellier (Michelle Williams) as she awaits news from her husband, a prisoner of war.
As Parisian refugees pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers’ homes, Lucile’s life is turned upside down – further complicated by the arrival of refined German officer, Bruno (Matthias Schoenaerts).

The trailer focuses on the tension between the couple, as their affair continues to challenge the concepts of what is moralistically correct. The stirring drama is well-supported by the likes of Kristin Scott Thomas, Ruth Wilson, Margot Robbie, Alexandra Maria Lara, Tom Schilling, Eileen Atkins, and Lambert Wilson.
SUITE FRANÇAISE will arrive in the UK on January 23rd and no US release date has been confirmed yet.
