It’s hard to believe that it was more than 35 years ago when George Miller first made cinematic history with his post-apocalyptic action series, MAD MAX. We don’t have long to wait until he is back, and to celebrate his return, Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed a new featurette that explores the MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘s franchise legacy. The latest instalment is once again co-written and directed by Miller and the leading man this time around for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is Tom Hardy who has taken on the iconic role of “Mad” Max Rockatansky, the character played by Mel Gibson in the original three films (which also include THE ROAD WARRIOR and MAX MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME).
Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, and HUGH KEAYS-BYRNE also star.
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
Miller directed from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller also produces, along with Doug Mitchell and P.J Voeten, Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD arrives in the UK on May 14th.
