It seems like it has been a long time since we last saw Marvel’s trickster Loki in action, especially as Tom Hiddleston’s scenes from AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON were cut, but now, we can see everyone’s favourite bad guy in a deleted scene from THOR: THE DARK WORLD. Take a look at the footage in the video player above.

This never before seen footage featured on the new Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection shows Tom Hiddleston’s character as a beloved king – and what is even more unexpected is that he is wielding Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer Mjolnir too.

In the deleted scene, we are taken back to Asgard where all in his presence bow before him as he approaches the stage in front of his adoring crowd for his Coronation. As he raises the infamous hammer above his head, we see his mother interrupts his illusion and brings him back to reality – and the jail cell that he is locked in as a consequence of all of his previous misdemeanours.

The next instalment in the THOR franchise is set for release in 2017 and is entitled THOR: RAGNAROK, but there has been no confirmation yet as to whether Hiddleston will once again be putting on his green Loki suit and donning that wicked smile that has made him such a popular Marvel character.

THOR: RAGNAROK is scheduled for release in 2017.
