Theo James will star in the fifth instalment of the UNDERWORLD series.
Kate Beckinsale is known for her role as the sultry Death Dealer Selene in the Underworld movie series, but it has been reported that the British actress will not be returning for the fifth installment, and will instead be replaced by Divergent actor Theo James.  Beckinsale will next be seen in STEONHEARST ASYLUM, a thriller directed by Brad Anderson, known for his work on THE MACHINIST and THE CALL.
The DIVERGENT actor, James,  joined the franchise as Selena’s ally David in 2012’s UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING and will now reprise the role as the new lead.
It has been reported that the producers are hoping to begin production on the currently untitled film in spring 2015 and the fifth film will expand the already established universe, rather than serving as a complete reboot.
Theo James will star opposite two new female characters, with casting already under way for the roles.
Cory Goodman is on board to write the script, while Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing.
