On Monday 4th November, fans of the The Hobbit were given an exciting treat ahead of the release of the second film in the Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.  Fans of the film were given a chance to meet legendary director Peter Jackson and the cast of the second film in the Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.  For the enthusiasts that could not be there in person, a Q&A session was held via satellite-linked cinemas all over the world.

The Hobbit stars were scattered throughout movie theatres globally in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Wellington, New Zealand. Each theatre was connected by satellite, so audiences could participate in a simultaneous Q&A and get a first look at extended footage from the film.

Host Anderson Cooper was joined by cast members Richard Armitage and Orlando Bloom.

CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper, was a fantastic host for the event from New York, joined by Brit stars Richard Armitage, who plays Thorin Oakenshield and Orlando Bloom, who will return as Legolas.

Evangeline Lilly, who joins the cast as Elf warrior, Tauriel, took up her position from Los Angeles, whilst London played host to other cast additions Lee Pace (who plays Elf King Thranduil), Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman) and Andy Serkis, who previously played Gollum.

Director, Peter Jackson, was joined by many eager fans in Wellington.  The characterful director participated in the session very relaxed… and shoeless.  We can reveal though, that the talented director does not appear to have feet which resemble that of a dwarf or Hobbit!!

The best thing about the event, was that it was broadcasted online for many of the large number of fans of the hugely popular film.  A great way for them to see their favourite actors talk about their characters and the upcoming movie which will premiere on December 13th.

Along with the Q&A, the event debuted a new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which shows new footage centred around the king under the mountain.  If you haven’t yet had chance to see the new trailer, click on the link below.

It was a fantastic event which showed off the good relationship and camaraderie between the cast members and revealed the exciting plot of the next instalment of the movie.  If you missed out on the live event, you can watch here:
