The first poster has been unveiled for the popular wartime literary film adaptation.

Testament of Youth

It’s here! The first poster for the upcoming adaptation of Vera Brittain’s iconic and powerful World War One memoir, TESTAMENT OF YOUTH – and it is full of all the love and despair you would expect from the classic wartime tale.

Directed by James Kent (THE THIRTEENTH TALE, THE WHITE QUEEN) in his feature film debut and produced by David Heyman (GRAVITY, HARRY POTTER, PADDINGTON), the film is based on the First World War memoir of iconic writer, feminist and pacifist, Vera Brittain (Alicia Vikander) and Roland Leighton (Kit Harington), who plays Vera’s fiancé.

It is a searing story of love and war, where Vera is irrepressible, intelligent and free-minded and overcomes the prejudices of her family and hometown to win a scholarship to Oxford. With everything to live for, she falls in love with her brother’s brilliant friend Roland Leighton as they go to University to pursue their literary dreams. But the First World War is looming and as the boys leave for the front Vera realises she cannot sit idly by as her peers fight for their country, so she sets off to take up her wartme work as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse working in England, France and Malta.

Also starring in the film are Taron Egerton as Brittain’s brother Edward, who introduces the lovers, Dominic West and Emily Watson who play Vera’s parents and to complete the ensemble; Colin Morgan, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey, Alexandra Roach, and Anna Chancellor.

‘Testament Of Youth’ opens on January 16th, 2015 and is also screening at the BFI London Film Festival this week.
