THE LEGEND OF TARZAN sees Alexander Skarsgård as everyone’s favourite iconic jungle hero
For those who have been eager to catch their first glimpse from director David Yates’ upcoming THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, your wait is finally over.
Warner Bros has released new photos (you can see the two new images above and below), a poster and also a teaser trailer for the upcoming movie.
For those unsure, yes, that is indeed Alexander Skarsgård known largely for his role in the TV series TRUE BLOOD who is playing the titular character – and he looks rather different…
In the picture below, we can see that Skarsgård’s Tarzan is also joined in the jungle by Margot Robbie (FOCUS, upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD) as Jane.
IN THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, it has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
Completing the casting ensemble is Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz and Djimon Hounsou.
Tarzan made his first appearance in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 1912 novel Tarzan of the Apes. The jungle hero would go to be the focus of an additional 23 novels by the author. In the century since the character’s inception, Tarzan has been adapted into just about every medium, including dozens of different feature film iterations.
The film is being helmed by David Yates, the man responsible for bringing the last four HARRY POTTER films to the big screen and has also signed on for further wizardry magic by directing the upcoming spinoff series FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM.
THE LEGEND OF TARZAN will be swinging into cinemas July 8th, 2016.
