Spiderman Avengers

With the rumours of which young actor will become the next big screen Spiderman circulating the web and tantalising fans with just who it might be, it’s easy to forget that it’s not all about the web-slinger. In a similar approach to how the Wrap reported the name of five possible actors to play the role, Deadline have announced the shortlist of which five directors could be helming the newly rebooted Spiderman film.

According to Deadline, these directors are “seriously in the mix right now” and if the list is true means that we could be looking at a more indie comedy approach to telling the story of Peter Parker/ Spiderman.

The list is as follows Jonathan Levine (WARM BODIES, 50/50), Ted Melfi (ST. VINCENT), Jason Moore (PITCH PERFECT), John Francis Daily and Jonathan M. Golstien (The upcoming re-boot of NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION) and finally Jared Hess (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, NACHO LIBRE).

It’s interesting to note that fan favourite Drew Goddard, who was previously announced to direct the ill-fated Sinister-Six movie is not on this list.

The article also drops hints as to what to expect from the tone of the next SPIDER-MAN films. The extract reads “Feige and his producing accomplice Amy Pascal are planning an arc that will tell the Spiderman story over three to four movies, each covering a year of high school for Peter Parker. The tone they are searching for in the coming of age tale is John Hughes humour and emotion, plus all the superhero stuff.”

News about SPIDER-MAN just keeps dropping, with the announcement that Sony pictures are planning an animated cinematic universe. The treatment of which will be penned by LEGO MOVIE geniuses Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which has to make you wonder why haven’t their names been thrown into the mix?

The standalone SPIDER-MAN movie rumoured to be titled SPIDERMAN: THE NEW AVENGER is scheduled to be out worldwide on July 28th, 2017.
