Rogue One

We all knew it would be a roaring success, so it comes as no surprise to see that ROGUE ONE has secured yet another STAR WARS milepost during the festive season and it appears to be a hit that just keeps on soaring. 

As it currently stands, ROGUE ONE’s has already grossed an astonishing $653.9 million (approx £530 million) at the box office which has had huge impact on the the overall success of STAR WARS as a franchise to $7.34 billion (approx £5.95 billion).

The amount has secured the Lucasfilm franchise ahead of the James Bond series, whose total grosses to date are $7.04 billion from the 24 films made since 1962.

ROGUE ONE is climbing up its own STAR WARS ranking, currently placed fourth in the highest-grossing film in the series, having just overtaken the $640 million-grossing ‘STAR WARS EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES.’

In the overall film franchise stakes, STAR WARS holds the third position in the highest grossing movie franchise stakes behind the HARRY POTTER (and FANTASTIC BEASTS) franchise with global box office takings of $8.46 billion.

The movie giants with a firm grasp at the top position is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They’re currently holding the top spot thanks to their host of movies which have been successful with audiences around the world recording $10.89 billion worldwide.
