Sad news coming out of New York with the tragic news that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment after an apparent drug overdose.  However, the exact cause of death is still waiting to be confirmed by the authorities.

The Hollywood star, who is only 46 years old and has three children, won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2005 film Capote.

The native New Yorker has also starred in other films including The Big Lebowski, Mission: Impossible III, and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Hoffman has never tried to hide his addiction to drugs after revealing he was forced into rehabilitation after taking prescription pills and snorting heroin, having managed to stay clean for 23 years.

The star was apparently concerned his rejuvenated drug addiction could spiral out of control once again and therefore, he checked himself into a detox facility on the East Coast.
