There is only less than a month to go DOCTOR WHO fans until Peter Capaldi’s debut episode in the iconic role of Doctor Who will be broadcasted – and it’s not just going to be for UK viewers either – it will be screened internationally in cinemas around the world on August 23rd.
DOCTOR WHO will make its long-awaited return to the big screen in the feature-length premiere episode of Series 8 called Deep Breath.
The decision to have it screened globally, stems off the back of the success of the anniversary episode ‘The Day of the Doctor’ which was broadcasted to over 1500 cinemas across the world. The screening should ensure fans gets to watch the episode at the same time to avoid spoilers and is a great opportunity for the fandom to come together to relish in the new episode.
Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor to take on the role as the Time Lord and the familiar face of Jenna Coleman will return as Clara Oswald, The Paternoster Gang – Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey).
Steven Moffat, the show runner, recently teased fans with information about the 12 episodes and revealed that the first episode (the only one to have a name), ‘Deep Breath’ will feature a truly terrifying monster (which we can’t wait to see on the big screen!) and has described it as “a really huge introductory show.”
“Last November the Doctor didn’t just conquer the world on television, he did it in the cinemas too. And like the show-off he is, he can’t resist another go – one taste of the silver screen is never enough. On August 23rd the new Doctor will begin his new adventures on BBC One and in cinemas all over the world. Movie-land beware – Capaldi is coming to get you!”
The first episode of the brand new series, DOCTOR WHO: DEEP BREATH will be screened in participating cinemas around the world from August 23rd.
