Paul Feig talks GHOSTBUSTERS and how his vision includes a cast of leading ladies…

The brilliant actor/director/producer has recently spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the up and coming GHOSTBUSTERS movie and mentioned that it would be a complete reboot!

Back in 1984, Ivan Reitman slayed audiences with his comedy about three ghost removing, parapsychology professors and it’s become one of the most popular cult hits to date. With demand for more ghost-busting action, Paul Feig is ready to direct a new movie but has decided to leave the old one behind a go for a complete new reboot. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he mentions; “…how do you come back into a world that’s had these ghosts and all this? It just felt too difficult. How do you do it and not screw it up?”.

Luckily for us, Feig hasn’t just left it there an is taking on the challenge of a new movie with full forth. He goes on to mention his love of female comedic actors and how he can totally see an all female GHOSTBUSTERS movie; “My favorite thing to do is work with funny women. I was like, what if it was an all female cast? If they were all women?  Suddenly, my mind kind of exploded: that would be really fun”. Yes, Feig!

For some ignorant reason, however, the idea of an all female cast did gain some backlash. Here’s what Feig had to say on the matter; “I just don’t understand why it’s ever an issue anymore. I’ve promoted both Bridesmaids and The Heat and myself and my cast are still hit constantly with the question, “will this answer the question of whether women can be funny?” I really cannot believe we’re still having this conversation”. Amen, brother!

I seriously hope this plan of his goes ahead! My dream female Ghostbusters line up, you ask? I’d have to go for Emma Stone, Kristen Wigg, Mindy Kaling and Maya Rudolph. Oh, a girl can dream.

What’s your dream GHOSTBUSTERS team?

  1. If they are going to mimic the original characters, I can totally see Kristen Whig (Murray) – but if she doesn’t want it. MAYBE Kristen Bell could work. McCarthy (Aykroyd).

Tina Fey could be a perfect Egon (Ramis), if not her maybe Mindy – [good call] Jenna Fischer pops into my head, Kristen Schaal, Aubrey Plaza, Alyison Hannigan (sp?) Actresses that could pull off the ‘Egon-like nerd’ lol

And I can see Queen Latifah as Winston (Ernie Hudson) OR Loni Love..female comedian on TruTV, seen some comical input on an off beat story on CNN as well.

I just saw Gillian Anderson wants a role..eh, I just can’t see that working.
