The new TV spot trailer has been released – and it is fantastic!

Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal has certainly embraced the role of his creepy character.

Have you seen the new TV spot trailer for Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal? It is thrilling.

At just 32 seconds long, the trailer manages to punch you in the gut with a riveting narrative explanation, without giving too much away. Seriously, I’m so excited for this film. Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, a jobless hopeful who stumbles into a scandalous world of freelance crime journalism, armed with a video camera that has seen better days, Bloom takes it upon himself to source major crime news and finds himself trapped in a dark world of secrets and sabotage.

The trailer makes it look like you’ve got everything you could possible want from of thriller movie. Slick editing? Check. Complex and slightly unhinged protagonist? Check. Action and suspense? Double check. With a grimly, back-ally feel to the world we’re about to enter, the trailer for Nightcrawler looks killer. Don’t just take my word for it. Check it out.

Despite this being his directorial debut, Gilroy has written big budget blockbusters like THE BOURNE LEGACY so masterminding a narrative like this should be a doddle. In Gilroy, we trust.

As well as that, Gyllenhaal rarely disappoints with recent hit performances like END OF WATCH and PRISONERS, under his belt, we should be in for a stellar, slightly disturbed ride.

With a UK release date of October 31st, this seems like a brilliant Halloween alternative for those looking for something other than the horror genre.
