Netflix

Netflix is set to develop its own young adult and kids shows.

The online streaming service has enjoyed huge success with its adult content: HOUSE OF CARDS, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, DAREDEVIL, and JESSICA JONES have all been released to unanimous popular and critical acclaim.

Now it’s time for Netflix to tackle and undoubtedly conquer entirely different market: kids shows. Three new children’s shows are set to be released on the streaming service by early next year. Even if they’re not that appealing, the shows will most likely receive second series just to give some kids another excuse not to play outside!

One of the shows will be a Hasbro Studios production based on the popular gel-filled toy bodybuilder, Stretch Armstrong. It’s what the world has been waiting for since the 70s. The show will follow Jake Armstrong and his two best friends, whom after being accidentally exposed to an experimental chemical become… Stretch Armstrong and The Flex Fighters. Their lives changed forever changed the twenty-six episode series will follow the trio as they go through: rigorous gym routines, post selfies on Instagram, and shout ‘No pain, no gains bruv’ and other slogans in their battles against junk food lovers.

Set at an elite boarding school THE GREENHOUSE will chronicle the adventures of two opposing houses, who eventually join forces to combat evil. Going by the title they’ll also be spending a lot of time growing their own vegetables or joining the picket lines of global warming campaigners.

Finally, LALALOOPSY will be about the misadventures of six friends and their pets in a playful environment. The series will aim to show how the protagonists withstand anything through collective creativity, and inspire viewers to express themselves. It sounds so ‘feel good’ but will probably only mean more self-entitled brats decide to take to YouTube.

LALALOOPSY will debut in the autumn of this year, with STRETCH ARMSTRONG and THE GREENHOUSE being held back for an April 2017 release.
