Netflix

Do you have an itch that only Netflix can scratch, but not sure what to watch next? Don’t worry, I’ve got you. If you’re anything like me, rather than taking your time with a series, and slowly devouring some new characters, you like to binge. I like to stuff so much in, in a short space of time that I am left bloated with entertainment and it’s getting to that time of year when I’m hungry for something new. Feeling it to? Good, because I’ve got my top five Netflix binge-worthy series you need to tuck into! If you’re after comedy or horror, romance of drama, there’s something here for everyone.

1. IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA: If you’re looking for a comedy series that’s going to make you feel kinda guilty when you laugh, then this series is for you. Mac, Dennis, Charlie and Sweet Dee all work in Paddy’s pub, in the heart of Philadelphia, and are the biggest bunch of antisocial, miscreant misfits you can image. With episode examples like ‘Who Pooped The Bed?’, ‘The Gang Gets Held Hostage’, ‘Mac is a serial Killer’ and ‘Who Got Dee Pregnant?’; it’s not difficult to tell what kind of comedy you’re getting. Starring Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito as you’ve never seen him before, It’s Always Sunny is going to make you laugh hysterically while feeling a little dirty doing so.

2. ARCHER: If you’re a fan of Family Guy or American Dad, you’re going to love Archer. This adult animation is perfect for putting on and settling in for a night (or week) of easy laughs. Our hero Archer is like James Bond exemplified. He works for a secret agent spy company, run by his martini swilling Mother and idiotic co-workers. Enjoy as you watch Archer attempt to save the world, sleep with as many women as he can and abuse his perfectly lovely butler. With voice actors like H. Jon Benjamin, Judy Greer, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter and Chris Parnell, this star-studded series is for those chilled out nights you don’t really want to think too hard about what you’re watching.

3. The Killing (US): Detective Sarah Linden gets ready to leave the force for wedded bliss until the murder trial for missing teenager Rosie Larson is dropped on her desk. Joined by newbie detective Stephen Holder, Linden begins a dangerous and dark investigation that sends her to the very brink of her sanity. With absolutely knock-out performances from Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, and as many twists and turns as you’d want, The Killing is spot on for any amateur detectives. With all four season waiting to be watched, this Netflix binge is going to leave you in a tail spin.

4. Him and Her: For all those lovers out there, here’s a comedy that depicts a scarily realistic story of what being in love is actually like. Steve (Russell Tovey) and Becky (Sarah Solemani) live together in a one bedroom, grubby little flat. They eat cold chips in the bed, go to the loo with the door wide open, gorge on cheap cider in the kitchen and they absolutely love it. This slow burning series is a breath of fresh air that is as tender as it is funny. With a wily bunch of secondary characters including Becky’s hideous sister, Laura and weirdo Dan, from upstairs, Becky and Steve attempt to do as little as possible while the others reek havoc! It’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s Him and Her.

4. American Horror Story: If you’re after something a little more sinister, American Horror Story is for you. Boasting two season of the American horror phenomenon, Netflix is the place to be if you want to scare yourself silly. The first season called The Murder House, is quite self explanatory- there’s a house, there’s murder but what really gets audiences is the shocking level pure horror that rings through every episodes; gimp masks, daemon babies; you name is, they’ve got it. The second series is, in my opinion, even more fear-vomit inducing as you find yourself sectioned in an insane asylum while a monstrous killer names Bloody Face is at large! With human experiments and extra terrestrials- this series is genuinely terrifying. Think you’re up to the scare challenge? Join reoccurring cast, including Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and the infamous; Jessica Lange.
