Ever wondered what would happen if someone hijacked your Facebook account? Well, entertainment channel London Live are set to broadcast an intriguing hidden camera game show which will capture the attention of the current Facebook generation.

The new show, CTRL Freaks records the chaos that ensues when participants bravely hand over control of their social network profiles to a panel of leading comedy talent and madness breaks loose when they run and possibly ruin, the participant’s social lives.

The show which is created and produced by NERD TV and Holler, sees comedians Dave Gibson (Hackney Empire, Laughing Horse and Oxford Fringe finalist), Bec Hill (one of Time Out’s Top 5 funniest comedians on Twitter) and Jacob Edwards (IT Crowd), also known as the ‘The Freaks,’ provide havoc.

Using the contestants’ social networks the comedy team script an outrageous week that they must live out for real – from an Essex boy turning into a drag queen to a hipster having to pass off the worst art show ever as all his own work.  The comedians will push each competitor to the extreme and they have to make the ultimate decision – will they go through with the challenges and can they convince their social network their out-of-character updates; photos and videos are for real?

Contestants must not give the game away, if they reveal the truth or fail to complete their challenges they are immediately forced out of the game…

London Live Head of Programming Jonathan Boseley, who commissioned the show, is looking forward to the comical events as they unfold:

“Londoners are avid social media users, always ahead of the trend and most are rather protective of their online persona.  There really is no better city in the world to watch three mischievous comediennes, take control and push social media boundaries. Packed full of laugh out loud and cringe worthy moments, CTRL freaks is a truly modern day prank show.”

James Kirkham, Co-founder of Holler, said:

We’re excited by TV predicated on behaviour which is informed by social media. This is about being current, knowing and frighteningly on the money. After watching this show, you will never leave your social profile unguarded again.”
