On Friday we attended the LEGO Dimensions London Press Launch to celebrate the release of the Wave 7 expansion packs, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Adventure Time, Gremlins, Harry Potter and Mission Impossible. Available for PlayStation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U, LEGO Dimensions brings characters from entertainment brands together in game features such as Battle Arenas and Story Packs.

With the WB Games team on hand to capture my experience via GIFs, I followed a schedule within a 2 hour time slot where I was able to play each game in experiential environments. After free time in the central hub, I entered the Mission Impossible Room where I was fitted into a harness. Lying horizontally with my head in a hole as though I was readying myself for a massage, I turned into Ethan Hunt as the graphics lowered me down into the vault.

Moving on to Gremlin’s cinema with 3D glasses in hand, I took part in a 4 player battle arena. Recreating the theatre scene from the film, the screen displayed silhouettes of the mischievous creatures before the curtains twitched and released handfuls of popcorn at us. I was then transported to Scamander’s bedroom in a recreated set from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. An open suitcase revealed steps inside where I was able to play the game in a enclosed space which would be hell for a claustrophobe.

Before It’s Adventure Time, my final experience and quite possibly favourite of the morning as I was given free reign of the costume box, I channeled Harry Potter, glasses and all, as I sat in the Cupboard Under the Stairs. With authentic wallpaper and carpet, the set was built offsite over a 2 week period.

Wave 7 of LEGO Dimensions is available now.
