This could be the one, folks.

Damien Chazelle’s follow up to the critical hit WHIPLASH is already on its way to bagging an Academy Award Best Picture nomination.

LA LA LAND, a romantic musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, has gotten critics raving since it debuted at the Venice Film Festival last month, and by grabbing the big prize at the Toronto International Film Festival — considered to be a major launching pad to an Oscar nomination — the LA set flick should be in for a busy awards season.

LA LA LAND has been written and directed by Academy Award nominee Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), the film tells the story of Mia (Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.

Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

The film also features recent Academy Award-winner J.K. Simmons playing a character called “Boss,” as well as Jessica Rothe, Sonoya Mizuno and Callie Hernandez playing Stone’s roommates.

The film looks like a keeper, beautifully shot and starring two of Hollywood’s most watchable stars. Mark this one down as a must see.

LA LA LAND will be arriving in UK cinemas soon.
