La La Land Ryan Gosling

It seems the success of LA LA LAND has cemented a great relationship between the Oscar-nominated director Damien Chazelle and the film’s star Ryan Gosling as Variety reports that the duo are officially set to reteam on Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic FIRST MAN for Universal Pictures.

Chazelle will be bringing the biopic to life using Oscar-winning SPOTLIGHT scribe Josh Singer‘s screenplay. According to reports, Gosling will be the man portraying Armstrong and production is expected to commence shortly.

The biopic is based on James Hansen’s biography First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong and tells the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. It is thoughts that the film will be told through a first-person perspective and will focus not only on Armstrong’s successes, but also on his sacrifices to become the first man to ever achieve a moon landing in one of the most dangerous space missions in history.

Chazelle was not the first set to direct the film, as he didn’t sign on until 2015, it then had Clint Eastwood attached who was set to direct and produce.

Either way, Armstrong’s landing is such a huge part of history that it comes as no surprise that a biopic is finally being made and we can’t wait to see and hear more about it as production commences.
