Masterminds

Zach Galifianakis accidentally shoots himself in the bottom as he and Kristen Wiig play the world’s most incompetent criminals in the new trailer for MASTERMINDS…

Just this brief mention of comedic occurrences alone alongside the casting names of Wiig and Galifianakis should give an indication as to the type of movie one can expect from MASTERMINDS.

To complete the casting ensemble are more faces not unbeknown to the world of comedy –  Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson. However, despite the involvement of the goofy acting group, the film is actually based on real events.

The film is based on the true story of the infamous Loomis Fargo Robbery of 1997, which was at the time the biggest cash robbery to ever occur in the United States.

Galifianakis plays David Scott Ghantt, an armoured car driver who conspired with fellow employee Kelly Campbell, played by Wiig, and her old high school friend Steve Chambers (Wilson) to pull off what was a pretty straightforward heist.

The clip opens with an ominous news report accompanied by CCTV footage that wouldn’t look out of place in a crime thriller, well, for at least the first ten seconds anyway…

MASTERMINDS, which is directed by NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and NACHO LIBRE helmer Jared Hess, is set for release on August 7th.
