Josh Hutcherson

Janitor by day, world class gamer by night… meet Future Man!

THE HUNGER GAMES alumni Josh Hutcherson is swapping fights to the death for an XBox control to star in Hulu’s FUTURE MAN pilot.

The half-hour comedy pilot will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who will also direct from a script by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. Hutcherson will also be credited as a producer through his Turkeyfoot Productions banner.

FUTURE MAN will follow Josh Futterman, a socially inept janitor by day and the world’s top ranked Cybergeddon player by night, using an avatar named Future Man. After beating the game’s final level he’s visited by the game’s characters, who reveal the game was a training manual. As it turns out, Josh’s high ranking means he’s the lucky one who’s been chosen to travel back in time and save the world from its imminent invasion by a super race. Obviously, not having much else better to do Josh leaves his parents basement to save the world.

In typical Rogen and Goldberg fashion, Josh will be an unhappy stoner living in total darkness off a diet of pizza and Budweiser. His only joy in life will come from: being Future Man in the game, obsessively posting on message boards, and creating YouTube video rants on how long it takes to progress from being a Level 5 Grand Wizard to a Level 6 one without the Sword of Giveatoss, including toilet breaks.

Josh’s mission to save the world should place him against: multi-coloured ghosts, a robotics genius who can only get hold of metal weak against hedgehog quills, an egghead with an Evolvo-Ray, and turtle monster with a penchant for kidnapping princesses and invading the Mushroom Kingdom. All that and militant fan boys pointing out imagined wrongs, by the time Josh even thinks of saving the world it would have already been destroyed by Vogons.

An air date is yet to be announced.
