Passengers

Good news for those hoping to watch Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s in space romance PASSENGERS the film has been given the green light and is going into pre-production.

Rumours of the duo signing onto the project were first mentioned back in February, but according to The Hollywood Reporter financial issues were threatening to halt the movie.

Tom Rothman decided to go ahead with the film after he replaced Amy Pascal as chairman of Sony’s motion picture group.

Rothman had been met with opposition when he reportedly asked director Morten Tyldum if the budget could be cut from $150 million including production incentives down to $90 million.

Lawrence will be paid a reported $20 million against 30% of the profit after break-even.

Pratt’s salary is said to have increased from $10m to $12m because his deal was tied into the box office success of the record-breaking JURASSIC WORLD.

Either way, despite all of the reported issues, it appears PASSENGERS will go into production this September.
