Despite rumours that the REQUIEM FOR A DREAM actor being eyed for Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE, it looks like Jared Leto may be up for the role of The Joker in the up and coming SUICIDE SQUAD movie.
David Ayer‘s adaptation (Fury) DC Adaptation, which already has Will Smith (I AM LEGEND), Margot Robbie (THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and Tom Hardy (LOCKE) in negotiations for roles, is set to involve The Joker as it’s main villain.
According to The Wrap, the Oscar winner is “is circling a key role” in for the movie which in term could result in The Joker coming to the big screen!
Warner Bros hasn’t made a comment on these rumours, nor has Leto and his people, but here’s hoping there is some truth to the whispers.
The SUICIDE SQUAD movie is going to revolve around a group of super-villain’s who reek havoc in dangerous missions in order to escape prison sentences. The movie is set to be the first DC adaptation after the BATMAN VS SUPERMAN movie, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
Leto is on top form right now with a brilliant performance in last years DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, where he won an Oscar for Best Supportive Actor, and so would be a hot ticket to play The Joker.
Still, whoever gets the part will have some serious shoes to fill, after the late Heath Ledger’s amazing performance in Christopher Nolan‘s THE DARK KNIGHT.
