Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal has certainly embraced the role of his creepy character.

It’s Jake Gyllenhaal as you have never seen him before – and you may find him rather creepy in the new NIGHTCRAWLER trailer.

In the upcoming crime drama, Jake Gyllenhaal takes on the role of a young man, Lou Bloom, who becomes involved in the underground world of Los Angeles freelance crime journalism, and his morals are quickly compromised.

“I’m looking for a job. In fact, I’ve made up my mind to find a career that I can learn and grow into,” the 33-year-old actor says in the trailer. “Who am I? I’m a hard worker, I set high goals and I’ve been told that I’m persistent. And I’m thinking, television news might just be something I love as well as something I happen to be good at.”

Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.

The 33-year-old actor lost an estimated 20 pounds for the role, which he managed to do without a special diet.

Lou Bloom’s motto: “If you want to win the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket,” is used repeatedly throughout the trailer.  Is this is a movie which you will be buying a ticket for?

NIGHTCRAWLER is released October 17th, 2014. Check out the trailer below:
