Deauville Film Festival
Everest starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley will open the festival.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Robert Pattinson, Keanu Reeves and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to attend the 41st edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.

Baltasar Kormakur’s 3D adventure thriller EVEREST will open the 41st edition of the Deauville American Film Festival and the stars of the film Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley will be in attendance representing their highly anticipated film.

The Universal Pictures movie, EVEREST, which will also kick off the Venice film festival, stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Penned by William Nicholson (GLADIATOR) and Simon Beaufoy (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE), EVEREST is based on the tragic 1996 expeditions to Mount Everest that left several climbers dead. Everest will be released in the UK September 18th and in the U.S. September 25th.

The stars and director of SICARIO, written by Taylor Sheridan, are also likely to be in attendance, as the film which premiered in competition at Cannes, will close the Deauville American Film Festival. Denis Villeneuve’s SICARIO, is an action-packed thriller starring Emily Blunt as an FBI field agent facing off a powerful Mexican drug cartel. The film also toplines Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Victor Garber. Lionsgate will release it Stateside on September 18th and in the UK October 9th.

Keanu Reeves will be in attendance at The Deauville American Film Festival which will pay homage to the actor and as part of the tribute, it will host a retrospective of Reeves’s most popular movies.

Reeves made his directorial debut on Chinese/U.S. co-production MAN OF TAI CHI, a martial arts drama inspired by the life of stuntman Tiger Chen that came out in 2013.

Reeves’s next pic, Eli Roth’s KNOCK KNOCK, which premiered at Sundance, will be released in France on September 23rd. The actor will have a busy 2016 with movies such Nicolas Winding Refn’s THE NEON DEMON.

The Deauville American Film Festival will take place from September 4th to September 13th, 2015.
