It has been known for some time now that there is a reboot of THE CROW in the works. However, it hasn’t had the best of luck in its attempt to get off the ground. The remake of the gothic 1994 classic has met a number of set backs in its turbulent beginning, the biggest of these knock-backs has been losing Luke Evans who was on board to play the lead role of Eric Draven for a while.

However, things may be looking up for the new incarnation of the classic as Jack Huston is reportedly in talks to play Eric Draven. Huston has previously appeared on BROADWALK EMPIRE, AMERICAN HUSTLE and KILL YOUR DARLINGS. For those of you that don’t know THE CROW was a fascinating story that featured Brandon Lee in the title role of Eric Draven.

On Halloween night Eric Draven and his fiancée are murdered by a gang who break into their apartment. Draven rises from the grave to exact vengeance on the men involved in the murder of himself and his love. It is a brutal story of revenge and is charged with a lot of emotion. The style of the movie can only be described as gothic, it features a man who claws up from six feet under, influenced by some kind of spirit animal (you guessed it, a crow) to walk the city streets once again, exacting justice wherever possible. He paints his face black and white, if you are familiar with the wrestler Sting just imagine that, Sting ripped off his whole gimmick from The Crow.

Time will tell if Jack Huston can put on a performance as good as Brandon Lee. Lee had this enigmatic on-screen charisma to him that made the movie a really fascinating watch. The performance was so eccentric and out there, but just incredibly engaging. To put on a performance even close to the mesmerizing magnetism of the original Crow, Huston needs to completely commit to the role, casting off any inhibitions, this character has to be completely engaging but so far from the title main character role.
