It was only last month that we reported that Liam Hemsworth was joining the cast of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel and now Jessie Usher is also involved in the project.
Director of the movie Roland Emmerich took to Facebook to confirm the involvement of Hemsworth and Usher and he also revealed that we will see the return of Jeff Goldblum.
Usher, who currently appears in Starz series SURVIVOR’S REMORSE, will play the son of Will Smith‘s character Captain Steven Hiller.
“My producing partner Harald Kloser noticed Jessie in between sets of push-ups at the gym and gave him an audition,” Emmerich explained.
It is thought that Hemsworth will be playing the male lead in the film, although his exact character remains unknown and no further information has been revealed just yet.
Fans of the first film will no doubt enjoy seeing Goldblum reprising his role as computer expert David Levinson, who helped repel an alien invasion in the 1996 original movie.
However, the big question is whether or not the FOCUS star, Will Smith will be returning in the follow up to the blockbuster, but at the moment it seems unlikely that he will be.
